NordGen application supported

The Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM) has now decided to support a NordGen application on access and rights to genetic resources of forest trees. In addition to the support from NCM, NordGen and the Nordic national representatives contribute by own means. A core issue in the project is to uncover developments in international legislation (e.g. patenting) that could possibly interfere negatively with the present free and open access to genetic resources of forest trees, which is prevailing today. The next step is to suggest means to meet these developments, if necessary. The project will be run in 2009 and 2010, in close cooperation with Fridtjof Nansen Institute in Norway.
