International institutions

The Nordic work on genetic resources are executed in accordance with international obligations and in cooperation with international institutions. NordGen coordinates the work in the Nordic region based on our mandate from the Nordic Council of Ministers by whom we are also funded.

The Nordic national authorities for managing genetic resources, represented by the national coordinators for genetic resources, cooperate with their European colleagues through European Regional Focal Point for farm animal genetic resources.

NordGen Farm Animals
coordinates the work on promoting the real value of farm animal genetic resources (AnGr), in the Nordic countries. We contribute to categorization, conservation and sustainable utilization of farm animal breeds in the Nordic countries. We also promote Nordic competance and views on the value of AnGr, within the Nordic countries as well as internationally.
