Pre-breeding for small grain cereals

At the workshop for pre-breeding in small grain cereals held at Alnarp 24th-25th November 2009, we agreed on a task-force to develop a Concept Note on the outcome of our discussions. The aim is to influence a strengthening of pre-breeding activities in cereals; to promote collaborations between plant research, gene banks and plant breeding entities. The note is describing the future challenges in cereal production, and the needs we have to address in order to meet these challenges.
 
The note is intended for distribution to policy makers. Please distribute the note in your respective networks, to your colleagues, to the relevant entities in your countries. It is important for to obtain more focus on sustainable utilization of genetic resources, and hopefully to help paving the road for higher funding and commitments.
