NordMeat – characterising meat from native Nordic breeds

Theres a lack of comparative knowledge on meat quality in its broadest sense for national breeds. Potential differences could be useful for targeting the use of native breeds as well as support the establishment or development of niche production based on native breeds.

NordGen will aim at establishing a network of research groups from the Nordic and potentially Baltic countries with the aim of generating and coordinating activities on characterising meat from native breeds.

Functional differences in meat quality will be documented and their use encouraged.
