The Nordic countries ratified the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture in 2007. This Treaty is a global tool, regulating access and use of plant genetic resources, and the Nordic countries strongly support this Treaty. The goal of the Treaty is securing future access to plant material, and to fulfill this goal a standard Material Transfer Agreement has been introduced by the Multilateral System of the International Treaty. As a consequence of this, NordGen is applying the access system described below.
To ensure the free availability of our plant genetic resources also in the future, the receiver has to accept the terms and conditions that are specified in the Material Transfer Agreement that applies to the use of the ordered seed material.
1) In case the receiver will use the material for research, breeding and training for food and agriculture, the terms and conditions of the “Standard Material Transfer Agreement of ITPGRFA Multilateral System” (SMTA), footnote version, have to be accepted by the receiver.

2) When the request is made for other scientific purposes, the terms and conditions of the “NordGen Material Transfer Agreement” have to be accepted by the receiver.
3) For private orders the following agreement is used:
