Accessibility

The website nordgen.org is the platform presenting the work of the Nordic Genetic Resource Centre (NordGen). It is important to NordGen that the information available on our web site is accessible to everyone and that you can easily find what you are looking for. This is an ongoing work so do not hesitate to contact us with your comments or suggestions for improvement. Since 2018, the legislation governing web accessibility has been tightened as a result of an EU directive (2016/2102). This means that public websites should be guided by four principles according to the guidelines called Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG); the web page should be possible to perceive, manageable, understandable and robust. Our aim is to meet WCAG 2.0, level AA with the exception of films that are not currently visually interpreted.

We try to fulfill this by:

  • ensuring that our website has a logical and easy-to-navigate structure, even though we work in a large and complex area
  • making sure our site is responsive, which means it works just as well on large computer screens as on tablets, laptops and mobile phones
  • working with descriptions of images and video subtitles
  • using sufficient contrasts and avoid flashing elements and much more.

However, if you find deficiencies on our web platform or have tips on how we can get even better, we gratefully accept your comments. Email us at info@nordgen.org. In Sweden, the Swedish Digital Agency is responsible for ensuring that web accessibility is monitored. You can contact the authority through this link.
