All the Nordic countries have ratified the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA). The treaty regulates the availability and use of plant genetic resources and, through the multilateral system, aims to secure access to plant material worldwide. The Nordic countries have strong support for ITPGRFA. For NordGen, this means that we follow the procedure below:
– If the ordered material concerns research, plant breeding or education related to food and agriculture, the terms of the footnote version of the Standard Material Transfer Agreement of ITPGRFA Multilateral System (SMTA) must be accepted by the client.
–If the ordered material is for other purposes, the terms of the NordGen Material Transfer Agreement (NMTA) should instead be accepted.
When the order has been received by NordGen, a link is sent via an automatic e-mail to the recipient. Via the link, the agreements must be electronically accepted before the order is distributed.
