The conference will bring together leading researchers, decision-makers and young scientists to safeguard the seeds and crop diversity that are essential for future food security.
Plant genetic resources are the foundation of climate-resilient and nutritious crops, yet they are still not fully used. By connecting researchers, plant breeders, policymakers and industry from the Nordic countries and the rest of Europe, the event will strengthen collaboration and accelerate the development of crops that can support sustainable farming, healthy diets and long-term resilience for future generations.
The conference will focus on the following key topics:
– One health: resilience and preparedness in agrifood systems provided by plant genetic resources for food and agriculture
– Conservation of plant genetic resources: AI, new trends and techniques
– Pre-breeding: linking genetic resources to plant breeding
– Phenotyping and characterization of genetic resources, including crop wild relatives
– New and advanced breeding technologies and future directions
– Agroecology systems interaction with crop diversity, including underutilized crops
– Resilient and sustainable food systems
The conference will be organised in collaboration between NordGen, the Nordic PPP for pre-breeding, EUCARPIA and SLU.
