When growing a vegetable or cereal, it is not always enough to look at the plant to get information about its various properties. Nor can you determine if milk from a landrace cow contains particularly interesting enzymes. In cases like this, a molecular laboratory is needed.
By using DNA markers we can, among other things, detect duplicates of plant species, study how much genetic variation there is in a population and evaluate conservation methods. The molecular laboratory works in close collaboration with plant experts and consultants within all of NordGen’s departments. The work performed here ranges from planning and coordinating projects to various types of practical laboratory work and genetic data analysis.
